… I would like to thank Pete for starting up The Great Tea Debacle. If it were not for GTD, I would not have gotten this far after the plot decided to thrash me around for a bit.

(That’s the first time I’ve had a plot actively do that to me. Maybe I’m starting to get the hang of this story-telling thing after all.)

I love the competition and the support from folks involved in GTD. They are not mutually exclusive. :) Losing either would have resulted in my word count per day sinking to 0 about… last week, actually.

Now I have technically completed NaNo, but I have not yet finished my first novel nor my second. So I still gotta keep on cracking!

Whew. That’s more like it. And that was with writer’s block people.

First line of this block:

Nervous and worried, I was slow at my reading, but I didn’t want to make a mistake–and given that every person they brought in was usually nervous and rightly so, it seemed more important than ever to be certain of their feelings.

(Not that I ever wanted to turn part of the Academy tale into a small depiction of the awfulness of torture or anything. Stupid Greater Meaning.)

Last line of this block:

“Yes. I think we ought to go in another way.”

Graph!

“Holmes, I think the snake has gone.”

CURSE YOU, GREATER MEANING!

You have no place in my plot! Begone! Begone! Dammit! You’re still here!

Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt!

Well, at least my interest in the plot has picked up again. Never a dull moment. I come across dead scenes that I think will be nothing but utter pain, but my characters save me every time.

Now I must confront my greatest fear: Is This Character Change Real, or A Cop Out?

(Consults Uncle Orson’s Characters & Viewpoint.)

Why must science fiction throw fast hardballs in that direction?

This damn plot twists
This damn plot twists
It twists no matter what the hell I do
NaNo says write and indeed I am writing
Perhaps I should redo outlining?
